Keeping with the trend from last year, US pangasius imports rose 20.7
percent in tonnage and 15.4 percent in value in January as compared to the
same month in 2016. according to the National Marine Fisheries Service
The United States brought in 13.118 metric tons of pangasius, mainly from
Vietnam, valued at S35.1 million (€33.3 million) in the first month of this
year, compared to 10.869 metric tons valued at S29 million (€27.5 million)
in January of last year.
In addition, the country imported 908 metric tons valued at S6.2 million
(€5.9 million) of the ictalurus catfish, the species grown in the United
States, from China.
